When can teeth whitening be performed?
Teeth whitening is only possible on healthy teeth, free of tartar or plaque. Therefore, before the procedure, any cavities should be treated and any leaky fillings replaced. It is worth remembering that the materials used for fillings or crowns do not whiten, so after the whitening process is complete, they should be replaced with new ones to ensure a uniform and aesthetic result.
What should you know about the procedure and effects of whitening?
After a teeth whitening treatment, you may experience tooth sensitivity, which usually subsides within 24 hours. To alleviate any discomfort, we recommend using liquid enamel-based products, such as Tooth Mousse or Mi Paste, as well as fluoride products (e.g., Fluormex, Elmex gel). To reduce sensitivity, it is also advisable to use toothpastes designed for sensitive teeth, such as SENSODYNE or COLGATE SENSITIVE, both one week before and after the procedure.
The “white diet” after whitening – how to maintain the results?
After teeth whitening, it is extremely important to follow the so-called “white diet” for 48–72 hours. This means avoiding foods and beverages that can stain your teeth, such as coffee, tea, red wine, or tobacco. To maintain the effect of a snow-white smile for longer, it’s worth using professional whitening toothpastes, such as Beyond Pearl White, Blanx, or Bianco.
Contraindications for Teeth Whitening
Not everyone is a candidate for teeth whitening. The most important contraindications include:
- pregnancy,
- breastfeeding,
- age under 18.
Consultation and personalized treatment plan
Before starting teeth whitening, we invite you to a consultation during which the dentist will assess the condition of your teeth, determine a treatment plan, and select the appropriate duration of the whitening sessions. This ensures that the treatment will not only be effective but also safe.
